Earth supports three common types of forest biome. Temperate, tropical and boreal forests cover over 30% of Earth’s land surface. Maybe you live in or near one of these types of forest. They are grouped according to the climate in which they are found because the climate influences what kinds of plants grow in that area. Temperate forests differ from the cold, snowy boreal forests and hot, humid tropical forests because temperate forests have four seasons. They are found in the temperate regions of the world where the weather isn’t super hot or super cold, but is considered temperate. There isn’t necessarily one rainy season, but rather precipitation falls fairly evenly throughout the year. The growing season is long, and a large variety of deciduous trees as well as smaller plants grow in this biome.
