Have you ever visited the desert? One of our favorite places to travel is the Sonoran Desert in the Southwestern United States. Its rocky, sandy landscape is vastly different from the one we inhabit in Missouri. Instead of forests with big oak trees, giant cacti dot the horizon. And most of all, the desert is dry. People are able to transport water and move it through canals and pipes, but how do animals survive in such a harsh environment where ponds and rivers are hard to find? Animals have to deal with the dry conditions and often heat pounding down from the sun as well as heat radiating from the ground and air.
